Meet Becca

Registered Psychotherapist
CRPO #13743

Hey there!☺️ My name is Becca (she/her). I am so excited you found your way to this page and are considering taking the first step to start therapy.

A little bit about me as a therapist: I aim to always work within an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed perspective which honours your lived experiences and the complexities of what it means to be uniquely you. As a queer person who has benefited greatly from my own therapy, I know how important it is to have a nonjudgmental space where I can show up as my whole and authentic self and have my grief, loss, and doubts witnessed and validated. I would be honoured to create that space with you.

I focus on building a collaborative, client-centred, empathetic, and authentic therapeutic relationship with my clients. I welcome clients of all races, faiths, backgrounds, abilities, neurotypes, gender identities, and sexual orientations.

Our sessions will focus on making a space for your emotions (such as grief, anger, fear, etc.) to be named and witnessed, uncovering the source of your current challenges, naming the systems that are causing harm, and supporting you to recognize your own strength and connect to communities of support. You can expect me to draw from multiple therapeutic modalities as I accompany you with warmth, compassion, and understanding as we uncover your areas of resilience and build up the resources you need for your journey.

If you think we might be a good fit to work together, feel free to reach out through the contact form below or through email to book an initial intake session or free 15 minute consultation call. I look forward to connecting with you!🌻

I am passionate about working with clients who are:

2SLGBTQ+

Whether you are questioning,
in the process of coming out, navigating relationship challenges with partners or family, ready to embrace the joy of queerness, or just want to work with a therapist with lived experience, who understands what it's like to be queer, I love supporting fellow community members with a queer affirming therapeutic focus.

Processing Religious Based Harm

Naming religious based harm, such as pressure to participate in sexual orientation and gender identity change efforts, non-affirming theology, purity culture, or clergy abuse of power, is something that deserves care and validation from someone who is aware of the loneliness, anxiety and unsteady feelings that can often come up. I have years of experience supporting folks who are deconstructing, asking questions about their faith, re-establishing their values and beliefs, or coming to terms with the harm and trauma attached to their experience in religious spaces. You don't have to go through this process alone.

Navigating Grief

Experiencing the death of a friend, family member, pet, or someone else that was important to you, or navigating the loss of relationships, jobs, opportunities, access to community, the ongoing pandemic etc., can make you feel like you are alone in your grief. Your grief is valid and deserves a place to be heard. I would be honoured to hold that space with you.

Neurodivergent

Being diagnosed with ADHD, autism, or another form of neurodivergence, whether as a child or later-in-life can lead to all kinds of feelings- particularly if you've never encountered practitioners who operate from an affirming lens. I love supporting folks on the journey of honouring their neurodivergence, healing from trauma inflicted by inaccessible systems, and discovering the options available for affirming support and increasing self-confidence. If you are new to the idea and resonating with neurodivergent experiences despite not having a formal diagnosis, I would also love to be curious with you and find the tools together that can give you the functioning and resources you deserve to have access to.

Unlearning Diet Culture

Honouring your body's needs in a world that bombards us with messaging that we are not good enough and must shrink and restrict ourselves is both difficult and exhausting. I come from a fat liberationist lens and am passionate about supporting you in the process of unlearning diet culture and fatphobia as you regain the connection with the needs and desires of your body.

Exploring Identity Formation

Learning about ourselves is a life-long process that sometimes requires additional support. Whether life has put you in a new role (e.g. parenting, divorce, new career, loss of relationships, moving, or entering a new age or stage of life), or you are asking the question, "Who am I?",  I would love to make space for you to ask in a nonjudgmental and supportive space.
